- Brian McKeever Wins 3rd Gold Medal
On the last day of the Paralympics Brian McKeever won his third gold medal in the one-Kilometre cross-country sprint for the visually impaired. McKeever went into the Paralympics feeling the disappointment of not being able to race in the Olympics. He had qualified for the Olympic team in January but a last minute decision denied his participation in the 50 kilometre race. McKeever also won gold medals in the 10 and 20 kilometre cross country races for the visually impaired.

- Canada’s Golden Girl, Lauren Woolstencroft Wins Five Gold Medals at the Paralympic Winter Games
Woolstencroft won the medals in the Giant Slalom, Slalom, Super-G, Downhill Skiing, and Super Combined helping Canada to set a record for the most gold medals at any Paralympic Winter Games. Woolstencroft now joins Chantal Petitclerc and Stephanie Dixon as an elite group of athletes all tied at holding five medals won at a single games.
Woolstencroft was born missing her left arm below the elbow as well as both legs below the knees. She began competitive skiing at the age of 14.
