The Canadian Paralympic Foundation (CPF) is a registered Canadian charity whose vision is to raise funds to contribute to and enrich, through sport, the lives of Canadians with physical disabilities. Our charitable registration number is BN883149700 RR0001.
The CPF is affiliated with the Canadian Paralympic Committee.
Having a disability has not stopped individuals from excelling at sports. They have mastered sports adapted to their needs and abilities. Athletes compete in Paralympic sports based on their impairment. The six major impairments groups are:
| Amputee | Cerebral Palsy | Intellectual |
| Les Autres | Spinal Injury | Visually Impaired |
Athletes train and compete year-round at world-class events.
The Paralympic Summer and Winter Games are held every four years in the same location as the Olympic Games and are the pinnacle of competition for elite athletes with a physical disability. As with the Olympics, very few make it to the Paralympic Games. Still, there are levels of recreation and competition available for all those interested in Paralympic and adaptive sport. The Paralympic Movement exemplifies and supports the concepts of equality of opportunity, affordability and accessibility within every community.
